Jews have lived in the historic Czech lands for more than a thousand years. Since their arrival in the 9th century, they have formed communities in many places in Bohemia and Moravia.
Although the community was not very strong in numbers, its cultural influence was all the greater. For centuries they maintained their traditions and customs, as evidenced by the many Jewish monuments that can be seen practically all over the Czech Republic.
