Mr. Jan Munk, the chairman of the Jewish Community of Prague, died at the age of 72

Mr. Jan Munk, the chairman of the Jewish Community of Prague, died at the age of 72 on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Mr. Munk was also the director of the Terezín Memorial for 27 years, during which time he succeeded in opening a new Museum of the Ghetto and other displays. Members of his own family had been interned at Terezín by the Nazis. 

Mr. Munk headed the Prague Jewish Community from 2012. Munk was a larger-than-life figure, in the Jewish Community Of Prague and played a key role in keeping the community together. Munk's funeral took place on the afternoon of Monday, May 13, at the New Jewish Cemetery in Prague.
